About the Author

Judge Walter L. Gorelick and his wife Ellen live in Tulare, California. Currently he serves in the Tulare Division of the Tulare County Superior Court. Prior to taking the bench in 1980, Judge Gorelick was certified as a criminal law specialist in 1977 by the State Board of Legal Specialization and served as Chief Public Defender for Tulare County. He is a graduate of Golden Gate Law School and the University of California at Los Angeles.

Judge Gorelick's Biography has appeared in Who's Who of American Law and Who's Who in California . He has lectured at the California Judicial College on the Preliminary Hearing System in California and is the author of numerous articles on criminal law topics.

Judge Gorelick is the author of a number of books published by Tule Legal Press including: Summary of California Criminal Evidence and Trial Cases , - 5th Ed.; Summary of California Drug Cases and California Search and Seizure Cases ; Summary of DUI Cases 7th Ed.; and California Preliminary Hearing Courtroom Handbook 5th Ed.

Judge Gorelick has spoken to many bar groups in California on criminal law subjects, including topics such as sentencing in DUI cases, new DUI cases and legislation; as well as, preliminary hearings following Proposition 115.
